Had our Pot Luck Party

Today we had a pot luck party at the school. Everyone came out to the school and brought all sorts of good food to eat. I got to try some new food that I’d never had before and try out a new recipe as well. Everyone had a good time and there was so much to eat. I don’t think anyone went away hungry.

Thank you to everyone who came out today. Akiko and I had a great time with all of you. Good food and lots of conversation. We really have to do it again soon.

It might be nice if people could post their recipes for what they brought to the party. I know I’d like to try to make some of those things. Here’s my recipe for Tiered Cheese Slices

  • 1 package Cream Cheese, softened
  • 1/2 teaspoon hot pepper sauce (tabasco)
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 cup chopped walnuts or cashews
  • 1/4 cup chopped raisins
  • 2 packages sliced cheddar cheese
  • crackers
  • In a small mixing bowl, combine the cream cheese, hot pepper sauce and salt. Stir in nuts and raisins.
On a large (30 cm) square of aluminum foil, place 2 squares of cheddar cheese side by side. Spread with 2 to 3 tablespoons of cream cheese mixture and cover with a slice of cheddar cheese.
Repeat until you have six layers of cheese and cream cheese and top with two more squares of cheddar.
Fold foil around the cheese and seal tightly.
    Refrigerate overnight.
Next, cut each square in half and then width-wise into 0.5 cm slices.
    Arrange and serve with crackers.
